Our hearts go out to the thousands of deceased, trapped, and injured victims of the tragic events that swept America on September 11, 2001. Please pray for these victims, their families and friends
My name is Henry and I am a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor, who works in Addiction Treatment Services at New Horizons Treatment Center, located at Binghamton General Hospital, which is part of the United Health Services network, in Binghamton, NY.
This site is a collection of addiction specific and related resources that I have personally found to be interesting, informative and encouraging. You are urged to visit all, or any page you feel speaks to your needs, particularly if you think you might have an addiction of any kind, or if you're concerned about a friend or family member. This site is a continuing work in progress. Your comments and suggestions, via e-mail or when you sign my guest book, contribute to the birth of fresh ideas.
| Here's a thought from Hazelden: | |
We can take time today to feel our gratitude and joy. We know that our true self is emerging and becoming more present every day. For this we can be grateful. We are recovering from our addiction as we rebuild our self-esteem One Day at a Time. We know we are worthwhile and lovable, and for all this we can be grateful.
Just as we know joy, we have known sorrow, and we will know both again because that is the nature of life. But if we trust that our Higher Power is turning everything that happens to our good, we can truly say, "Thy will, not mine, be done." Is it asking the impossible to be grateful for everything that happens to us? Some days it may seem so, but those days pass, and after they do we sense their purpose in our life. It is then we feel content, knowing that we possess the promise as well as the reality of this new life we have chosen.
I am grateful for my recovery. I am
also learning to be grateful for pain and difficulty because of the
lessons I learn from them.
