About Compulsive Gambling

Compulsive Gambling, Gambling Addiction, Pathological Gambling:

A progressive disease for which there is no cure, however, it can be treated and arrested.  Compulsive gambling is characterized by the loss of control over gambling, a preoccupation with gambling and with obtaining money with which to gamble, irrational thinking; and a continuation of the behavior despite adverse consequences.

Compulsive Gambling or Gambling Addiction is a disease in which people are unable to control their compulsion or obsession to gamble. The only proven and successful method of arresting this addiction is treatment and total abstinence.

Recovery from compulsive gambling can be a long and difficult process that can only begin when the compulsive gambler or gambling addict admits that he or she is powerless over gambling and that his or her life has become unmanageable.
